Happy Birthday, Ludita!

We send Happy Birthday wishes across the miles to Ludith Guerrero in San Cristobal. Ludith was a faithful member of our congregation while living here in Maracaibo, and since moving to San Cristobal she always visits us when she is in town. We were happy to have her here with us just a few weeks ago. Have a wonderful day, Ludith, and know that you are in our prayers today in a special way.

Give Thanks

Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. - 1 Chronicles 16:8
From Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Day proclamation in 1863,
"The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God... No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union."
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks.
- 1 Timothy 2:1
A Very Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Happy Birthday, Randy!!

Nov. 17th has finally arrived - Randy's birthday. We started out a day early with a cake after the worship service yesterday. Randy was baptized in Christ Church 28 years ago and has been a faithful participant ever since. He is our official bell ringer, collects the offering at each service and distributes hugs and blessings to one and all. He was heartily congratulated by all in attendance. ..and the cake was delicious!

The Good Shepherd Window

The beautiful stained glass window of the Good Shepherd which has presided over all our services from the east end of the church for over 50 years, was donated in memory of Mary Eunice Allen, April 15, 1946 - May 1, 1950, by her parents.

Unfortunately the window was recently prey to vandals and now has a ragged hole over one of the smaller sheep. One of our projects for the coming year must be the repair of this treasure. The wood around the window is quite old, so great care must be taken in removing the protective grill as well as in handling the glass itself.
